Welcome to the Scrub Buck Hunters Website. This is where the nerd of the herd
gets all of the attention. With so much focus on trophy bucks with high scoring
Boone and Crockett racks these days, we felt obligated, as hunters ourselves,
to honor the genetically challenged bucks also.
After countless hours of research and field analysis (deer camp B.S. sessions
and idle time in the deer stand), we've concluded that the deer hunting
community is in great need of an organization that not only recognizes Scrub
Bucks as trophies themselves, but also rewards the hunters who proudly show
them off. Another breakthrough discovery as a result of our studies is that the
meat from a Scrub tastes just as good as the meat from a trophy, symmetrical
buck. However, a yearling buck does have a slight advantage over either of
those.
A Scrub Buck is not to be confused with a management (cull) buck. Neither is
he to be mistaken for a yearling (immature) buck. A Scrub is anything but
uniform, symmetrical or Boone and Crockett material. A true Scrub Buck is a
rare and highly elusive species of deer. Once again, our in-depth research has
proven that there are far fewer Scrubs harvested each year than 8, 10, even 12
point trophy bucks. Just look in any hunting magazine and you'll see what we're
talking about, making a Scrub Buck even more desirable.
It is a cold hard fact of nature that there will always be the outlaw bucks that, no
matter how hard you try to manage them, will never conform to trophy buck
standards. That's where we come in.
